Public Playground Inspections

Public playgrounds are those that are used by the public such as; Homeowners Associations, Government & Municipality Parks, Daycare Centers, Churches, and Schools to name a few.  For the overall safety of the play environment as well as providing as much protection as possible against litigation arising from ill-maintained playgrounds or unknown defects, it is good practice to have your public playgrounds inspected by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector on a regularly scheduled basis.

In recent years, it has been determined that more than 200,000 injuries annually occured on public plagrounds across the country that required emergency room treatment. Through regular inspections as well as proper and timely maintenance, you and/or your community can create a safer playground environment for all children and contriubte to the reduction of playground related deaths and injuries.  A playground should be inspected regularly in order to eliminate any apparent hazards in the play environment to ensure property safety and timely maintenance.

Our inspections are compliant with U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission's (CPSC) Public Playground Safety Guidelines as well as the ASTM International Standards.  All inspections are performed by a Certified Playground Safety Inspector.  Our playground inspections include every piece of equipment, surfacing under the equipment, as well as any other item found at the playground area.  Careful measures are taken to photograph and compare current conditions with prior inspections. Inspection frequency depends largely on the traffic and use pattern's of the playground.  ATSM recommends a minimum of one inspection annually.

Inspection files are maintained for each playground which includes any initial Audits, layout, pictures, equipment inventory, owners manual if available, subsequent inspections, work orders, supply orders, maintenance records, and any pertinent information on each playground's condition.
